A few nights before they played I got to hear them practicing their sets while trying Honey Wine and homebrew! I didn't get to drink while I was at the show, but I still enjoyed it. Chris and Penny started out their set with Iron and Wine songs and finished off the night with their own material.

Alien Blood recipie

Alyssa and I went to Providence, RI this Saturday and we ended up visiting our favorite greek restaurant in Providence called Andrea's. They had a drink with some ingredients I knew I had at home. I swiped the ingredients and substituted the pineapple juice for mango juice and shazzaammm!!! I ended up making a drink I call alien blood in memory of the majestic X-files show. Here's the ingredients.

Alien Blood
1/2 glass mango juice
a splash of coconut rum
a splash of blue curacao
top the glass off with seltzer (I used poland spring)

Notes:

This drink had a very sweet fruity flavor. Another way to try this drink is by mixing together all liquids (minus the seltzer) together with ice. Strain the ice and pour the chilled mix into a glass half filled with seltzer.

These two videos pair well because it shows how an insecure guy can violate a girls personal space with a slight gesture. It's amazing to see Kelly's reaction after Clay -- well does what he does. Then to see Kelly describe it to Regis and to see her squirm and express a disappointment that neither Regis nor the audience can relate to is a sight to see. Please watch the following videos in the order they are shown.

CNN Report: Michael Richards (Kramer) a Racist?

These videos are a bit more shocking. I was talking to my co-worker about his act on stage and trying to figure out what point he lost it. I've heard tons of comedians say "racist" things in a tounge and cheek way, but the energy behind Richard's act is clearly something else. The apologies are ironic because even though a comedian has tons of power on stage with a mic in hand, and apology gives the power to the listener, to the person that was wronged. I really recommend watching these videos in this order, because CNN covered this and twisted Richard's stand up

act.

As far as my personal reaction, I tend to take a moderate view on most things, and I've seen interviews of Richards before this incident and before seeing the offensive stand up I regarded him as a very hard working comedian. I still regard him in the same way although I think he slipped with making racist remarks. I'm sure a lot of people make racists statements and jokes + have brief racists thoughts, but Richard's was on stage and because he's in the spotlight and all the events of someone's life are unfairly magnified. I'm quite curious to see what becomes of his career after what has happened.

Sweet Potato Crisp

This is my first time making sweet potato crisp and I'd have to say it came out a bit too sweet for a veggie side dish. It should've been dessert. This bowl of sugary goodness is made up of a layer of the crisp (from apple crisp) on marshmellow's (from whole foods) on mashed sweet potato. That layering is repeated twice and when all is said and done I doused the entire thing with rum.

One problem I ran into was with the sweet potato's; they are extremely moist. I tried copying a Julia Child suggestion to heat the potato's until they streaked on the bottom of the pan. I almost burnt the sweet potato waiting for the damn thing to dry up. The other issue was with trying to light the rum on fire. The dish was too moist and I got a couple flames here and there, but no flames like in banana flambe. I thought adding more rum would help, but it only made the dish more intoxicatingly delicious.

I made this because I normally make apple pie for my mom-in-law and I had done it for 3 years straight. I had to do something different.

Double spouted tea pot

We bought several hand made soaps, some rare wooden enclosure, but the unique purchase at the Worcester Craft fair was this tea pot. We spent 60 bucks to get this well crafted item made by the Providence ceramics guru, Michael Torres, was inspired to craft this. We've tried it already and it works like a charm; the tea follows the spouts right into the cups. This is so perfect for the upcoming winter.

Do you keep a journal or diary? How often do you write in it?

I only write down things that I think are significant like any event that triggers strong emotions. This is a moronic way of journaling, because the events I deem insignificant are often more important as time goes on. I hope to be more disciplined to take note of my days in the future.
